Beschreibung: This bronze sculpture, depicting a mythological child with a fin, is the work of French sculptor Paul Silvestre and was cast at the renowned Susse Frères foundry in Paris. The figurine portrays a mythological figure, likely inspired by water spirits or symbolic beings associated with the element of water. With a fin instead of legs, it could be an interpretation of figure number 22, which might be an allegory or a special representation of a water deity, such as Triton, son of Poseidon. Paul Silvestre (1884–1976) was a significant French sculptor, known for his figural works drawing inspiration from classical mythology and nature. This figurine demonstrates Silvestre's keen eye for detail and his ability to capture the expressive quality of figures, making it not only aesthetically impressive but also intellectually engaging.
