Beschreibung: This antique desk inkwell from the second half of the 19th century represents a prime example of French ceramic artistry from the renowned Jules Vieillard & Cie manufactory in Bordeaux (marked with the original printed mark on the underside). The entire set is crafted in the sought-after Rouen style, characterized by rich ornamental decor in a deep cobalt blue hue on a creamy white background. The set consists of an elegantly shaped base with a resting area for quills and two removable stoneware containers. The ceramic bears an authentic patina of long use, including fine crazing in the glaze and minor chips on the necks of both containers, which are captured in the image IMG_7487.jpg.
