Beschreibung: This vase of smoky grey solid glass is an iconic work by glass artist Rudolf Jurnikl (pattern no. 13143 designed in 1965 for the Heřmanova huť / Sklo Union glassworks). The vase captivates with Jurnikl's typical plastic structure featuring lenticular optics on the sides and a smooth central area, which in this case was used for the application of a gold print with the portrait of communist president Klement Gottwald. This is a very specific period commemorative or promotional piece, combining top Czechoslovak glass design of the 1960s with political history.
