Beschreibung: This goblet is a typical representative of late Biedermeier (circa 1840–1860), when such decorated commemorative glass was highly popular in Czech and German lands. This style is characterized by the contrast of clear glass and rich red ruby glaze, into which motifs were skillfully ground or etched, in this case complemented by a hand-written dedication "Zur Erinnerung" (In Memory) rendered in gold. The elegant combination of floral grapevine motifs and noble script reflects the bourgeois aesthetic of the mid-19th century, which emphasized the emotional value of objects and the cultivation of the home environment.
