Beschreibung: The painting depicts a vast landscape with a lake surrounded by mountains. In the left part of the composition, a building with classical architectural elements is shown on the shore, complemented by tall cypresses that are reflected in the water's surface. Small wooded islands and sailboats are visible on the lake, while massive mountain peaks rise in the background under a dramatically cloudy sky. The work is signed in the lower right corner in red: E. MENTSCHEL. The artist E. Mentschel, whose real name was Emil Menčl, was a prolific painter and landscape artist whose work is particularly associated with the Děčín region. Before World War II, he signed his works as Mentschel. He is known for his paintings of local architecture, villas, mountain scenery, and floral still lifes. This painting is a characteristic example of his work from the period before 1940. The technique is oil on canvas. The painting is well-preserved, without perforations or significant stains. The black wooden frame with a gold inner trim shows minor scuffs and local dents, especially in the lower part. On the reverse side, there is a handwritten number 94507. On the front, in the upper left corner, there is a pasted label with the numbers 6785 / 190.
