Beschreibung: This pair of circular engravings depicts Rococo figural scenes featuring noblewomen in period costumes, set in a garden or park environment. Characteristic of English fashion from the late 18th or early 19th century, these miniature depictions are presented in round frames. They are hand-colored copperplate engravings, combining etching and engraving techniques with manual coloring. The first engraving, signed at the bottom: "DRAWN BY F.R. SMITH" and "ETCH'D & ENGRAVED BY P. DEMONGOT", shows a group of three figures – two women and one man – against a landscape background. The second engraving, signed at the bottom: "LADY LINCOLN DEL." and "P. DEMONGOT SCULP.", features two women and a child adorning a bust with flowers. Similar works are often identified as colored copperplate engravings, aquatints, or gouaches on bone or ivory, dating from the 18th or 19th century. Both engravings are set in round frames. The frames show cracks in the wood and losses of the finish, visible in several places around the circumference.
