Beschreibung: Colored copperplate engraving after an original by French painter Louis-Léopld Boilly, engraved by E. Massard. The scene, titled "La surprise agréable" (The Pleasant Surprise), depicts a genre scene from the late 18th century – two ladies entering a room where a man sits at a desk. The print features delicate hand-coloring, set in its original gilded frame with patina and visible damage. The paper is browned in places and shows signs of moisture in the lower part.
