Beschreibung: Colored copper engraving after a painting by the English painter Francis Wheatley (1747–1801) from the series Cries of London, depicting a craftsman repairing chairs in front of a house, accompanied by two women and a dog. The engraving was executed by Giovanni Vendramini (1769–1839). The print bears both English and French titles – Old Chairs to Mend / Vieilles chaises à rempailler – and is part of a series depicting London street vendors and craftsmen from the late 18th century. The paper is slightly yellowed with minor signs of age; the frame is original, veneered.
