Beschreibung: This intimate portrait depicts a pair of dogs, likely terriers (on the left, typically a Cairn Terrier; on the right, a Skye Terrier or a long-haired Bichon), captured with extraordinary sensitivity to the animal's character. The artist chose a detailed view of the dogs' heads, emphasizing their individual expressions – while the brown dog with the blue collar appears watchful, the white dog with long fur adds calm and elegance to the composition. Technically, the work stands out with its high impasto, especially in the fur, which thus acquires a plastic, almost tangible character. The background is rendered in muted, gray-green tones, allowing the physiognomy of both animals to fully emerge. The work is set in a massive, richly decorated wooden frame with prominent gilding. The frame is decorated with an embossed frieze featuring stylized lilies or shells, typical of historicist styles of the late 19th century. The combination of quality painting and a representative frame makes this item an excellent collectible and interior piece.
