Beschreibung: A Breton-style bonnetière cabinet, dated to the late 19th or turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, is made of solid wood. This piece of furniture exhibits typical characteristics of Breton carpentry, distinguishing itself from the Norman style with its floral motifs. Nautical and maritime symbolism is characteristic, evident in the carved rosettes in the shape of ship's rudders on the upper door panels. The pierced handles also resemble steering wheels. The upper part and center of the cabinet are adorned with turned balustrades, meaning rows of small wooden spindles or newels, which are typical for Breton sideboards and cabinets. The surface of the furniture is covered with rich geometric and deep carving. The original purpose of these tall and narrower cabinets was to store traditional women's bonnets, hats, and lace. A single wide drawer is standard in the lower part of the cabinet. On the back, there is a fragment of a label with incomplete text, where the word VANNES is legible. The cabinet can be disassembled for transport and handling.
