Beschreibung: A tilt-top occasional or tea table, known in English as a tilt-top table. Its tilting mechanism was widely used in the 18th and 19th centuries. It allows the tabletop to be rotated to a vertical position. This way, the table can easily be placed against a wall or in a corner of a room when not in use, contributing to space saving. The top is attached to a rotating wooden block at the top of the central leg. On the underside of the top, the original wooden latch, used to secure the top in a horizontal position, is visible. Details of the construction, the woodworking on the underside, and the surface patination suggest its origin in the 19th century. When the top is tilted up, the table also serves as a decorative element in interiors, highlighting the wood grain on the tabletop.
