Beschreibung: The painting depicts a forest stream winding through stones, set in an autumn or late summer forest scene. The work is executed in oil on canvas. The artist's signature LADISLAV KRATOCHVÍL is visible in the lower right corner. The painting is characterized by an impressive, impasto style with a dense application of paint. This painterly approach is typical for Czech regional landscape painting and is consistent with the Post-Impressionist or Realist rendering of nature prevalent in the first half of the 20th century. The painting is framed in a solid gold Blondel frame, which is decorated with a raised fluted pattern and complemented by a light inner fillet. On the reverse of the canvas, there is a handwritten text: „LADA“.
