Beschreibung: This item is a hand-forged anchor or hook from the 19th or early 20th century. This multi-pronged anchor had various practical uses in the past. One of its main functions was retrieving buckets from wells, where it served as a well hook or well grapple. Lowered into the well on a rope, it allowed for catching and pulling up a fallen bucket. Another use was in butcher shops as a butcher's hook for hanging meat, including game and cured meats. Smaller variants of these forged anchors were used by firefighters or rescuers to pull down burnt beams during fires or to retrieve waterlogged logs from water during floods. The item represents evidence of traditional blacksmithing craftsmanship and functional design from the given historical period. How is it used in the kitchen today? In modern interiors (especially in country styles, such as French farmhouse or rustic kitchen style), this hook is hung from the ceiling or a beam and serves as: • A hanger for herbs (for drying) • A rack for kitchen utensils, tea towels, pots, or pans • A standalone industrial decoration
