Beschreibung: This intarsia artwork presents a detailed depiction of the architecturally significant Bojnice Castle, located in Slovakia. Formerly known as Bojnice Hrad (Bojnice Fort), this historical monument is captured with precision, typical of the intarsia technique. The work utilizes various types of wood with different grain patterns and color tones to create a sculptural and deep visual effect, portraying the complex structure of the castle surrounded by trees and landscape. The intarsia technique involves wood inlay, where thin veneers of diverse wood species are carefully cut and assembled onto a backing board, forming a mosaic-like image without the use of dyes. The artwork is set in a wooden frame with a brown finish and a patinated gold profile, which suitably complements the wooden tones of the intarsia. No signatures or dates are visible on the front of the piece. The condition of the intarsia is well-preserved, with a natural wood patina. The frame shows minor scuffs and surface damage, particularly on the corners and edges, which is common for items with history. This unique item is suitable for collectors of intarsia, lovers of castles and chateaus, or as a decorative element for an interior.
