Description: A framed decree by King Frederick Augustus of Saxony, dated May 15, 1914, granting the "Ehrenkreuz" (Cross of Honor) award to shipmaster Karl Walter from Niedergrund (today Dolní Žleb near Děčín). The original document is on thick paper with ornate German calligraphy, a large blind state seal in the lower left corner, and the sovereign's autograph signature, set in a wooden frame with glass. The paper shows signs of age, with some stains and yellowing; the frame has minor wear consistent with its age. A timelessly interesting document for collectors of Saxon history and awards, for enthusiasts of Elbe river navigation and rail or river transport on the Elbe, as well as for those interested in the regional history of the Děčín region and Dolní Žleb.
