Description: This vessel represents a unique combination of the history of science and artistic craftsmanship in the form of a French ceramic water filter by the Mallié brand, known as "Filtre Pasteurien". The cream-colored glazed stoneware vessel is decorated with a prominent plastic relief featuring a cartouche and inscriptions that refer to the revolutionary water purification technology using porous porcelain (Porcelaine Amiante), developed in collaboration with the Pasteur Institute in the late 19th century. The filter is equipped with its original lid and a metal spigot at the bottom. Its overall preserved condition and authentic patina make it not only a stylish decoration for period interiors but also a valuable exhibit for collectors of technical antiques and hygienic necessities.
