Description: This cast-iron mortar represents an authentic period document from World War I. The item is decorated with a plastic relief featuring the years 1914–1916, complemented by a decorative botanical motif (often oak or lime branches). These mortars were produced as replacements for bronze pieces that families had to surrender to the state for ammunition production as part of wartime requisitions. The massive cast-iron design with its original pestle is fully functional, bears a beautiful dark patina, and is in excellent condition without cracks.
