Description: This massive wooden tap (known as a 'pípa') was used for tapping and dispensing beverages from classic wooden barrels, typically beer or wine. The body of the tool is precisely turned from hardwood, ensuring its durability for repeated use in pubs or wine cellars. The narrower end, designed for tapping into the barrel, is fitted with a reinforcing metal ring with an external thread for a firm and tight attachment. The top rotary valve, which regulated the flow of liquid, is complemented by a shaped wooden handle for easy grip. Due to age and gradual natural drying of the material, a longitudinal crack is visible on the main body, which today makes it more of an authentic decorative item for rustic interiors than a fully functional tool.
