Description: This specific historical scissor-type tool represents classic hairdressing waving tongs, which were heated over an open flame or a special spirit lamp before use and served for the laborious shaping of period hairstyles and waves. The unique steel construction combines a smooth lower arm with a grooved (comb-like) upper pressure attachment, which ensured even heat distribution along the hair strand, and is finished with turned wooden handles protecting the hairdresser from burns. A clearly legible embossing with the address of the Parisian workshop "131 RUE DE RENNES – PARIS" is visible on the movable metal arm. The tongs bear authentic signs of use, patina, and surface corrosion of the steel parts, which underlines their age, but they are still mechanically functional and represent a great decoration for period barber shops or hair salons.
