Description: Black and white engraving depicting the famous Battle of Rivoli, which took place on January 14–15, 1797, between French and Austrian forces during Napoleon's Italian campaign. The original author of the famous painting that served as the model is Félix Philipoteaux: "Napoleon at the Battle of Rivoli." The richly detailed composition shows a dramatic scene of armies clashing, with Napoleon Bonaparte on horseback dominating the center, leading his army to victory. Wounded and fallen soldiers are in the foreground, while a dramatic Alpine landscape, crucial to this battle, looms in the background. The engraving is executed with an emphasis on precise lines and fine details of uniforms, weapons, and the dynamics of combat. The work is set in a black frame with a gold inner line. Description: lithograph of an engraving by P. Girardet, signature and description of the work below the print, glazed, frame slightly damaged.
