Description: This trunk comes from the equipment of the Mountain Infantry Regiment No. 1 (Mountain Infantry Regiments were specialized units designed for operations in mountainous terrain, continuing the tradition of Austro-Hungarian units intended for mountain warfare. The first of the then existing four regiments was based in Turčianský Sv. Martin, and from October 1920, in Dolný Kubín.) The black paint with distinctive preserved emblems in the form of falcons, which members of the regiment also wore as collar insignia, refers to its original military use. Among the decorative ironwork is the numeral "1" - indicating the regiment. It served as storage for gear or important equipment. The solid wooden construction features metal clasps and a forged lock, ensuring the secure preservation of its contents. Metal loops on the lower sides of the chest allowed for easy transport and potential attachment to a horse. The interior of the box is left in its natural finish with noticeable signs of use and several authentic signatures - likely of soldiers. This unique piece commemorates a military past, but can also serve as original storage or a collector's artifact with significant historical value.
