Description: Wall lamp designed by Stanislav Kučera, manufactured by ÚLUV – Central Office of Folk Art Production in the 1960s. The luminaire's construction includes a lampshade made of dried straw and a solid maple wood base, complemented by a brass pattern. The lamp shows visible markings: "ÚLUV – UH. HRADIŠTĚ", "250 V – 100 W", and "TYP 22122-1". ÚLUV – Central Office of Folk and Art Production, was an organization bringing together ethnographers, designers, production, and trade. The organization was founded in 1945 and ceased operations in 1995. ÚLUV had shops across the republic and in Slovakia named "Krásna Jizba" (Beautiful Room), where artistic industry, industrial art, graphics, and items for home decoration were offered. ÚLUV focused on creating an association of designers, manufacturers, and distributors of handmade artistic crafts, applied art, and modern design. The goal was to produce affordable mass-market items with high artistic quality. From 1954, when small-scale producers could no longer work as private individuals, ÚLUV served as a protective umbrella under which manufacturers could sell their products. This organization generated an enormous amount of documentation of products and works, describing the process, materials used, and including photographs of the products. This documentation is preserved in the National Museum and the Wallachian Open-Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. It is also worth noting that the Slovak ÚĽUV still exists and operates successfully under the Ministry of Culture there, thanks to a different approach from the Slovak state. The Prague-based ÚLUV company had a production facility in Uherské Hradiště with a company store in a building on Palackého náměstí in Uherské Hradiště, which operated until the mid-nineties. The lamp is in original and functional condition. The electrical wiring is original – we recommend checking it before connecting.
