Description: This hand-knotted Persian rug originates from Iran, as confirmed by the import label with the text HAND MADE IN IRAN. Its characteristic features point to West Persian tribal or village production, most likely from the Lori (Luristan) or Khamseh / Hamadan region. The rug's pattern consists of a geometric tribal composition with a dominant stepped diamond medallion on a dark blue (indigo) field. The medallion is framed by a light cream polygon and supplemented with smaller tribal motifs, such as tiny geometric flowers, birds or animal motifs, and amulets. The manufacturing technique is hand-knotting wool on a cotton or wool warp. Dimensions according to the label are approximately 142 × 127 cm; the label clearly states 142 × 127. The knot density was estimated based on a detailed measurement to be approximately 30–35 knots per 10 cm horizontally and vertically. This corresponds to approximately 900 to 1,200 knots per dm² (approx. 90,000 – 120,000 knots/m²), which is a medium density typical for tribal and village rugs. The rug's wool has a good pile. The colors, including indigo blue, red, cream, and accents of turquoise and brown, are stable. The fringes and edge binding are well-preserved. One detail on the reverse side shows a minor repair to the weave near the edge, which is common for used tribal pieces.
