Description: This artwork presents a rich interwar still life with flowers and fruit, executed in oil on canvas. On the right side of the composition, a glass vase with a floral arrangement of white, yellow, and pink dahlias or chrysanthemums dominates. The center and left side of the table are filled with a cut ripe watermelon, apples, pears, grapes, and plums. A distinctive red cup with a saucer is also part of the still life. The work is signed in the lower right in orange-brown paint and dated 1934. The artist, a Czech academic or regional painter active in the interwar period, focused on realistic miniature painting and still lifes, reflecting the influence of classical academic painting. The execution is detailed, with artisanal precision and a three-dimensional rendering of textures, such as the glass of the vase, the sheen of the fruit, and the delicacy of the petals. The painting is framed in a wide gilded Blondel-type frame with a sculptural ornament, consistent with the 1930s, and is in a presentable condition.
