Description: A brewery, distillery, or dairy measuring vessel, often referred to as a calibrated jug, was used for precise measuring and pouring of liquids in larger volumes. The vessel was calibrated to specific volumes, for example, 2, 5, or 10 liters, and was used for distributing and controlling the quantity of liquids in breweries, distilleries, or dairies. A characteristic feature is a wide spout, or nozzle, with an extended beak on the right side, which allowed for quick and precise pouring of liquid, minimizing splashing and dripping. The vessel's construction is made of copper sheet, with the inner surface covered by a layer of tin, a process called tinning. Tinning served to protect the copper from corrosion and also prevented undesirable reactions of acidic or alcoholic beverages with copper, which could affect the taste or safety of the contents. For easy and safe handling, the vessel has two handles: a smaller handle on the back and a robust handle located near the spout, which served for a firm grip and easy tilting of even a full and heavy vessel.
