Description: The motif depicts a Knight Banneret during the Second Crusade in 1146. The scene captures a kneeling knight in full armor holding a banner, accompanied by a horse and other figures in the background. This is a period printed graphic. In the lower left beneath the motif is the signature 'F. Philippoteaux', and in the lower right 'DEGHOUY'. Below the motif is the printed text: CHEVALIER BANNERET À LA SECONDE CROISADE. 1146. (Knight Banneret in the Second Crusade). The original drawing was created by the renowned French painter of historical and military subjects, Félix Philippoteaux. For printing, it was rendered as an engraving/lithograph by the engraver Léopold Deghouy. This print originates from a comprehensive French historical-military work titled HISTOIRE DE L'ARMÉE ET DE TOUS LES RÉGIMENTS DEPUIS LES PREMIERS TEMPS DE LA MONARCHIE FRANÇAISE JUSQU'À NOS JOURS (History of the Army and all Regiments from the Earliest Times of the French Monarchy to the Present Day), published by Adrien Pascal in Paris between 1847 and 1858. The graphic is mounted in a simple wooden frame with a mat. The paper of the graphic shows overall toning.
