Description: A painting on silk depicting a Japanese woman in a traditional kimono holding a fan. The composition is complemented by cherry blossoms. In the left part of the painting, there is a characteristic signature and a red artist's seal. The work dates from the mid-20th century, around the 1950s, and is a typical example of decorative pieces produced in Japan for export. The painting is set under glass in a simple black frame. On the back of the frame, there is a collage containing a newspaper clipping and a handwritten note. The clipping's headline reads: LAURÉATE DU CONCOURS DE LA CHANSON FRANÇAISE (WINNER OF THE FRENCH SONG CONTEST). Below the photograph, there is text mentioning Miyé Meguro, the winner of a Japanese French song contest, who traveled to Paris's Orly Airport and won a round-the-world ticket including a recording of the song La Vie en rose. A handwritten note on the collage states: SEPT 1958 (SEPTEMBER 1958). The frame shows wear, especially at the corners. These Japanese silk paintings are often associated with the work in the style of artists like Qing Yan or similar mid-century Japanese creators.
