A French wooden measure for grains or fruit, dating from the 19th century. The item is made of bent or folded wood, reinforced with metal hoops and rivets. On the front, the inscription DOUBLE DÉCALITRE is stenciled, indicating a volume of double decalitre, i.e., 20 liters. In agricultural regions of France, this measure was used for officially verified measuring of bulk commodities such as grain, legumes, or fruit. Currently, it finds use as home decor, for example, as a planter for dried flowers, or as an accessory in a rustic interior, where it emphasizes the historical character of the space. This is an authentic piece from a period when precise measurement of bulk commodities was crucial for trade and agriculture.
