Description: This rare mechanical perpetual calendar from the period 1850–1860 is a masterful example of the technical ingenuity and applied art of its time. Within a deep glazed frame, there is a hand-painted landscape miniature with a romantic castle scene, complemented by an ingenious mechanism with rotating paper cylinders for setting the month, day of the week, and specific date. The elegant blue background with golden garlands, German terminology, and authentic craquelure on the painting underscore the historical value of this collector's unique piece, which has been preserved in an exceptionally original condition, including its internal mechanism and decorative back covering.
