Description: This wall-mounted hanger with an integrated rectangular frame is precisely cast from bronze in the popular Neo-Gothic style during the second half of the 19th century. The bronze casting features detailed architectural ornamentation – the upper part bears a pointed arch with an openwork motif of a five-petaled flower (quadrifoil), the sides are flanked by stylized finials with suggested windows, and the lower part is finished with elegant volutes. The central rectangular cutout originally served for inserting a small photograph, a holy picture, or a mirror. A small, slightly curved brass hook is attached to the bottom edge of the frame, originally used for hanging pocket watches, a cloth, or keys. The entire piece bears an authentic dark patina, remnants of the original backing cardboard, and represents a valuable example of artistic metal casting that today serves perfectly as a stylish interior element for small valuables.
