Description: This historical family photo album from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries captivates with its massive brown covers featuring a deep texture faithfully imitating leather. The upper left corner is adorned with richly ornamental, openwork metal fittings displaying Rococo and Art Nouveau motifs. The album is equipped with a functional metal clasp for secure closure and contains a total of 14 thick cardboard leaves with gilded edges. Period "cabinet card" photographs were inserted into their passe-partouts from below. The inner pages bear elegant gold lining and conceal original studio portraits from the turn of the century – including rare images of children and burghers by renowned French photographers (e.g., Moulin, 8. Bd. du Temple in Paris, or A. Deguast). The entire piece represents a magnificent, authentically preserved example of historical bookbinding and a family heirloom with high collector's value.
