Description: This set of four antique, solid metal buttons represents a beautiful example of French haberdashery and a highly prized collectible in the field of apparel philately/faleristics. The buttons are made of brass (or patinated tombac alloy) with a convex shape. The central motif on the front side is a detailed raised relief of a bee, which historically symbolized industriousness, immortality, and was also associated with Napoleonic tradition and luxury goods. The back of the buttons features a sturdy loop for sewing and a clearly legible embossed inscription "LA BELLE JARDINIÈRE PARIS", which was a famous Parisian department store for luxury ready-to-wear and clothing, founded in the 19th century. The buttons bear a natural period patina, minor traces of oxidation (verdigris) in the creases, and light surface wear, confirming their authentic age and historical origin.
