Description: The painting depicts a landscape scenery with the motif of a road, bridge, and orchards, executed in oil on canvas. The artist's signature "DLOUHÝ" is located in the lower right corner of the work. The work comes from the oeuvre of Václav Dlouhý (1923-1989), a graphic artist and painter who gradually shifted in his work towards geometrization of shapes, alternating white and black planes, and painterly abbreviation. The painting is set in a simple frame. On the reverse side of the canvas, there is a label with the description of the motif: "SILNICE - MOST - SADY" (ROAD - BRIDGE - ORCHARDS) and dimensions "55x30" cm. Furthermore, there is a label indicating the author VÁCLAV DLOUHÝ and the motif. Václav Dlouhý is a significant Czech artist whose works are represented in the National Gallery as well as abroad. His artistic style is characterized by a gradual evolution from realistic depiction to modern forms with an emphasis on geometric elements and expressive painterly abbreviation, which is also evident in this landscape work.
