Description: Realistic painting depicting Karlštejn Castle. The painting preserves the typical silhouette of the castle, dominated by the Great Tower. The artist faithfully captured the tiered arrangement of the castle buildings as they rise from the limestone spur. It was here that the Imperial Crown Jewels and holy relics were stored in the past. This is a classic realistic painting, likely oil or tempera on canvas. The signature A. VEJSADA is in the lower right. Karlštejn Castle was founded in 1348 by Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor. Karlštejn held an exceptional position among other castles – it was not built as a residential castle, but as a safe place for storing the most precious treasures of the Holy Roman Empire. The canvas shows minor scuffs on the edges and surface wear. Simple wooden frame without glass.
