Description: The artwork presents a landscape composition with a dominant group of mature deciduous trees in the left part of the painting, lining a path or water body receding into the depth of the scene. The right side of the painting opens up a view of a sunlit plain under a cloudy sky. The oil on board technique is characterized by a very expressive and impasto application of colors, where individual brushstrokes or palette knife marks are clearly visible, creating a rich sculptural surface texture, especially in the details of the foreground and tree bark. The artist's signature 'C. BERTHIER' is located in the lower left corner and is rendered in black block letters. An artist with this name is associated in art circles with the French school of landscape painting, and the style of this work exhibits strong elements of Post-Impressionism and an emphasis on capturing the momentary light atmosphere. The overall palette of earthy, ochre, and grey-green tones suggests an autumn or early spring mood. It is framed in a massive gold-colored wooden frame, complemented by a prominent inner passe-partout covered in red velvet. This combination of red surface and gilding creates a strong contrast to the subdued coloration of the painting.
