The photograph is glued onto a cardboard passe-partout, with the photographer's legible signature "Jos. Grupe" in the bottom right. The work is estimated to date around 1900, which corresponds to the subject's attire and the overall style of studio photography. The photograph shows minor surface stains and slight yellowing of the paper. The frame is made of wood with visible grain, and its surface bears slight scuffs and signs of use. The back of the frame is fitted with the original cardboard backing, secured by small nails.
