Description: Milča Uzlová (* September 16, 1883, Rychnov nad Kněžnou † August 15, 1964, Mělník) was a painter of flowers, landscapes, and architecture who connected a large part of her life and work with Mělník. She was born in Rychnov nad Kněžnou and received her artistic education through private studies in Prague and Paris, which influenced her painting style and perspective. In her landscape paintings, she often captured motifs from France, the Mělník region, Italy, and Corsica. Milča Uzlová actively participated in exhibitions of the Circle of Women Artists in Prague and had solo exhibitions in Mělník and Kladno, for example, in September 1935. In addition to her painting, she also designed book covers and worked as an industrial teacher. She was the daughter of František Krapka, a member of the financial guard in Červený Kostelec. In 1908, she married MUDr. Karel Uzel, with whom she had a son, Pravoslav. From her first marriage, she had a son, Radim. Both sons tragically died of polio in 1939. The work depicts a still life with fruit, where a rich mixture of grapes, apples, pears, and other fruits is compositionally arranged in a wicker basket. The painting is executed in oil on board, with the artist's visible signature 'M.' in the lower right corner. It is framed in a wooden frame with sculptural decoration, which bears minor abrasions and patina. The painting is well-preserved, without visible cracks or stains. No labels or stamps are discernible on the back of the work; the paper backing layer is partially damaged. This is a representative work by a 20th-century Czech painter, suitable for collectors and art lovers.
