Description: An oil painting on cardboard depicting the motif of Madonna and Child, rendered in a modern, almost graphic style. The work is characterized by intense emotion and dynamic use of light, employing a limited color palette. The theme of Madonna and Child, also known as Mother of God, is interpreted here using broad, confident brushstrokes that create a distinctive play of light and shadow, typical of chiaroscuro. The color scheme of the painting is tuned to brown and ochre tones, evoking a sepia or monochromatic style. This tonality contributes to the timeless appearance of the painting, which will suit both modern and classic interiors. In the lower right corner is the artist's monogram "S. M.", possibly "J. M.". Paintings with an identical monogram regularly appear in Czech auction houses and are dated to the first half of the 20th century. The painting is set in its original, profiled silver-gold frame with a textured inner border, which complements the modern concept of the painting. The frame is in very good condition. A label with the text: "MALÍŘSKÁ LEPENKA 35x50 27-1903 15,-Kč Kód 16 obor. č. 625 110 DŘEVOVÝROBA Kartonážnictví." (Painter's Cardboard 35x50 27-1903 15,-CZK Code 16 field no. 625 110 WOOD PRODUCTION Cardboard Manufacturing.) and a stamp "Galerie Národní 25" are affixed to the back.
