Description: A hand-colored etching depicting a fashion scene with two ladies in period attire. The print dates from 1847 in Paris. The text on the piece states CONSEILLER DES DAMES ET DES DEMOISELLES (Advisor to Ladies and Young Women), with the address BUREAUX, BOUL. ST. DENIS, 13, PARIS (Offices, Boulevard Saint-Denis 13, Paris). Furthermore, suppliers of clothing and accessories are specified: MODES ET LINGERIE, M.MES C.NA LORY, M.LE DE LA VICTOIRE, MODES (Fashion and Lingerie, Madame C.na Lory, Mademoiselle de la Victoire, Fashion) ET CACHEMIRES DES INDES DE LA MALLE DES INDES, 24 ET 26, PASSAGE JOUFFROY (and Indian Cashmere Scarves from the shop "Malle des Indes", Passage Jouffroy 24 and 26) and CHAPEAUX DE LA MAISON SOYER, 67, R. MONTORGUEIL (Hats from the fashion house Soyer, Montorgueil Street 67). The artwork is set in a wooden frame with carved decor. The paper shows slight oxidation and localized stains. The frame has minor surface abrasions and traces of woodworm on the back.
