Description: This reverse glass painting depicts a genre scene featuring a man and a woman in an environment that evokes historical or fairy-tale motifs. The technique of reverse glass painting, also known as hinterglasmalerei, is characteristic of the 19th century, where the painting is applied to the back of the glass. Stylistically, the work resembles folk art expressions or naive paintings, which often captured scenes from history and everyday life. The frame of the work shows wear on its finish, with paint loss on the edges. The back of the frame is colored blue and red and bears traces of use. The back panel is soiled and shows discoloration.
