Description: A crucifix with the corpus of Christ, made in the style of folk carving. The item combines a wooden cross with a detailed figural carving of Christ. The surface of the corpus is polychromed, which gives the work a distinct visual character. Above Christ's head is a titulus with the literal inscription IN RI. This abbreviation represents the Latin phrase Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, translated as Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, symbolizing the biblical context. The polychromed surface of the corpus shows patina and partial abrasion of the color layer, which is a natural characteristic of the material and processing method. Folk carving, typical of rural areas, is characterized by authenticity and manual craftsmanship, reflecting the artistry and piety of the time of its creation. This type of object served as part of home altars or Stations of the Cross, thus representing a significant element of Christian iconography and folk art.
