Description: A wooden military trunk, sometimes referred to as a conscription box, dating from the 20th century, likely from the period of Czechoslovakia. The material is solid wood with visible patina and a worn yellowish-brown paint finish that shows traces of use. The fittings include a metal handle on the top for carrying the item and a front latch for locking. On the front of the trunk is the handwritten name of the original owner: JIŘÍ NOHEJL. In historical military barracks, soldiers often marked their trunks themselves with chalk, paint, or an ink pen to safely identify and distinguish their belongings.
