Description: This jacquard tapestry depicts an idyllic pastoral landscape by a lake. The central figures are a fisherman standing in a boat on the water and a girl sitting in the branches of a tree on the bank, extending her hand with a bouquet of flowers. This romantic scene is a reproduction of a work by the French painter Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (1796–1875), confirmed by the woven inscription D'APRÈS COROT in the lower left corner. Technically, it is a machine-woven jacquard tapestry, with its reverse side revealing a complex structure of intertwined colored threads and typical horizontal yarn stripes. The tapestry dates from the first half to mid-20th century, specifically approximately 1920 to 1960. During this period, machine-woven reproductions of historical and landscape works were a popular accessory in bourgeois interiors. The country of origin is most likely France or Belgium. The edges of the tapestry are reinforced and professionally hemmed with a wide brown trim. For easy installation, metal eyelets are attached to the upper edge of the reverse side, designed for threading a rod or direct wall hanging. No fabric or paper manufacturer's certificate is visible on the lining, which is common for this type of decorative tapestry and does not allow for precise identification of a specific weaving mill.
