Description: Highly artistic tapestry-type jacquard fabric from the Prelle manufacture, intended for demanding interior projects and the restoration of historic residences. The pattern is inspired by historical floral Art Deco and the late 19th century (Arts and Crafts / Art Nouveau style), imitating classic medieval and Renaissance wall tapestries (Verdure – tapestries with lush greenery and forest motifs). The motif consists of intertwined fern leaves, exotic plants, and small flowers in earthy tones. The fabric is not printed; the entire pattern is created by complex weaving on jacquard looms using many colored threads simultaneously. Thanks to this technology, the fabric is heavy, very strong, abrasion-resistant, and has a typical sculptural, coarser texture. Due to its high grammage and durability, the fabric is primarily intended for upholstering historical armchairs, sofas, footstools, or headboards. It can also be used as heavy curtains and portieres, where its weight allows it to hold its shape and insulate, or as wall panels stretched into frames, replacing a tapestry. Maison Prelle, founded in 1752 in Lyon, is one of the oldest operating manufacturers of silk and fabrics. In the past, the manufacture supplied fabrics for French kings, Napoleon Bonaparte, and still produces replica fabrics for Versailles or the Louvre museum. The price of new fabrics of this brand in interior design studios ranges in the hundreds of euros per running meter.
