Description: This rare pocket instrument, known worldwide as Le Posographe, is an ingenious mechanical calculator and exposure meter in one. This iconic device was designed and patented in 1922 by the French inventor Albert Kaufmann. Housed in a metal frame with a sophisticated system of six mechanically interconnected levers, the instrument helped photographers quickly and accurately determine exposure times without complex mathematical calculations. The user simply adjusted the levers according to current conditions (e.g., season, time of day, sunlight intensity, or type of outdoor and indoor scene), and the mechanism automatically displayed the correct values. The celluloid tables with French descriptions bear authentic signs of age and intensive use in the form of stains and patina. The instrument comes with its original, highly prized leather case, embossed with the decorative inscription 'Le Posographe', which shows period wear and abrasions (especially on the back). For collectors of classic photographic technology, Art Deco design, and historical micromechanics, this is an exceptionally attractive and sought-after collector's unique piece.
