Description: This historical telephone inductor comes from the manufacturer Telephon-Fabrik AG vorm. J. Berliner, located in Vienna at Missindorfstrasse 21. The device is housed in a wooden box with a rotary crank and contains coils and a rotary mechanism inside. The inductor was used to generate alternating voltage, which was utilized for ringing in telephone networks of the early 20th century. Manually turning the crank created an electrical signal that activated the ringing on the receiving end of the telephone connection.
