Description: This specific historical tool made of forged steel with a wooden handle represents traditional craftsmanship equipment used by carpenters, wheelwrights, trough makers, or foresters. It is a variant of a one-sided drawknife or bark peeler (scraper), designed for manual debarking of logs, rounding wooden beams and felloes, or hollowing out troughs. The tool features a long forged tang ending at a right angle with a wooden handle for a firm grip with one hand, while the other hand guided the cutting edge itself. This edge has a characteristic semicircular to trough-like shape with double-sided curved side stops that prevented too deep a cut into the wood and helped maintain a uniform pulling direction. The item bears a distinctive dark patina, forging marks, surface corrosion, and wear on the wooden handle, consistent with its age and hard craftsmanship, but it is mechanically fully intact and well-preserved.
