Description: This ceramic amphora represents a characteristic example of French Art Nouveau and Art Deco stoneware (Grès d'Art) from the workshop of Gilbert Méténier in Gannat (Allier department). The vessel, made of dense light stoneware with a typical matte and glossy flowing glaze in blue, ochre, and brownish tones, bears a handwritten, underlined signature 'Méténier' on its base. This unequivocally confirms its artisanal creation in the family manufactory founded by Louis Méténier and made famous by his son Gilbert. The distinctive hand-shaped handle and the organic flow of the dripping glaze reflect the top-tier French craftsmanship tradition of the interwar period, and the item is in excellent preserved condition without visible damage.
