Description: Toolmaker's measuring microscope from the German manufacturer E. Leitz Wetzlar (predecessor of the Leica brand). The microscope is equipped with a tilted tube, a measuring eyepiece, and an angular scale. The lower part consists of a robust cross-table with micrometric feed. The instrument is in preserved condition with its original black crinkle finish and is still functional – the illumination system (transmitted light) lights up when plugged into the mains (see photo). This particular piece has an interesting industrial history. It bears its original registration label: “TURNOVSKÉ BRUSÍRNY N. P., EVID. ČÍS. 11887” Given its place of origin (Turnov – the city of gemstones and optics), it was likely used for grinding precious stones or manufacturing precise technical optics. Manufacturer: E. Leitz Wetzlar (marked on both body and eyepiece). Part identification numbers: 502 and 887. This instrument is ideal as a prestigious decoration for an office, doctor's office, or technical interior, or as a valuable addition to a collection of old optics and measuring instruments.
