Description: An aneroid barometer with a thermometer, a typical example of Black Forest carving art from the late 19th or early 20th century. The instrument's case is richly carved from dark wood. The top is adorned with a mascaron, often referred to as the "green man," with detailed features. On the sides are two winged mythological figures. The instrument combines an aneroid barometer for measuring air pressure with a thermometer. The barometer dial bears French labels: "TEMPETE" (storm), "PLUIE" (rain), "VARIABLE" (variable), "B. TEMPS" (fair weather), "B. FIXE" (settled fair weather), and "TRES SEC" (very dry). The bottom part of the barometer dial features the mark "BOUCART PARIS". The thermometer is labeled "CENTIGRADE". This piece is a collector's item and an interesting testament to the craftsmanship of the period.
